About the Becklund Wagner Wedding Party

Get to know Amy, Jeff and the entire wedding party a little bit better, we'll even share some of the details on how the couple-to-be met.

The Bride & Groom

The Meeting

The Meeting

On August 6, 2007, Jeff and Amy separately attended their friend Katie’s birthday pool party, their existence unbeknownst to one another. Jeff was sitting on the edge of the hot tub when Amy innocently sat down beside him. The two introduced themselves, began chatting and soon realized that they had a lot in common. It ended up that they knew a lot of the same people and had actually been at same parties in the past, they just must not have been ready for each other yet. Jeff asked Amy for her phone number and as they say, the rest was history.

The Engagement

The Engagement

On December 18, 2009, Jeff surprised Amy with an early Christmas present…they were leaving for a weekend in sunny San Diego! It would be a lie to say that "engagement" did not cross Amy's mind at first, but Jeff played it cool and managed to get her off the trail. That Saturday evening the couple headed over to Coronado Island for dinner at the infamous Hotel del Coronado – setting of the 1950’s film "Some Like It Hot". After a delicious seafood dinner at The Del's restaurant, 1500 Ocean, the couple decided to take a walk on the beach. It was there that Jeff got down on one knee and popped the question. I think you know what Amy's answer was...

The Bridal Party

Anna Becklund – Maid of Honor

Anna Becklund – Maid of Honor

Annie is my brilliant youngest sister who continuously amazes me with her accomplishments. I am so proud to have her as my sister and feel so lucky to have two sisters that are also my best friends. I don’t get to see Annie nearly as much as I would like because she lives in Chicago, but it makes our time together even more special and appreciated. We also manage to get a lot of quality phone time in that always leaves my stomach hurting from laughing so hard. Jeff is excited to finally have some sisters and feels very lucky that Annie is one of them.

Erin Karst – Matron of Honor

Erin Karst – Matron of Honor

Erin is my fabulous middle sister and my rock. She is the best listener I have ever met and has always been there for me. Growing up with her was a blast and we continue to share in many memories in the making.
She is also a great sport and will be extremely radiant (aka pregnant) at the wedding. (Baby Karst is due on August 22!) This is the first baby for my family and Jeff’s, so we are beyond excited to become an uncle and auntie to this little person we cannot wait to meet!

Katie Benner – Bridesmaid

Katie Benner – Bridesmaid

Kats and I met when we studied abroad in London in 2001 where we were randomly paired as roommates. It was love at first sight and we’ve been joined at the hip ever since. We have traveled all over Europe, the U.S. and Mexico together and she and her husband Rob are the reason that Jeff and I met. I am honored to have her as my friend and bridesmaid and look forward to the years of fun to come!

Martha Brandes – Bridesmaid

Martha Brandes – Bridesmaid

Marth and I had our very first college class together, but didn’t become friends until sophomore year at the University of Minnesota because of a pretentious mythology teacher who scared an overall-clad Amy away on the first day of class (but that’s a whole other story). Martha and I had many adventures throughout college and after graduation when we moved to Dublin, Ireland together. She stayed, but we have managed to remain the closest of friends despite the miles between us. She is like a sister to me and I am so happy that she is able to travel all the way from Ireland to share this day with Jeff and I.

Dave Karst – Usher

Dave Karst – Usher

Even though Dave has only officially been my brother-in-law for almost three years, he has been family for over twelve. He and my sister, Erin, are high school sweethearts and it has been fun to see him grow from that 15-year-old boy to the wonderful man he is today. He has been a great “brother” and brings some much-needed male balance to the Becklund family.

Josh Williams – Usher

Josh Williams – Usher

Josh and I met at work over five years ago where we became instant friends. I don’t know if I’ve ever met a person I was so immediately comfortable with and sometimes like to joke that he is the male version of me (scary, I know). We love to give each other a hard time, but it is always in good fun and I am so happy to have him in my life and a member of our wedding party.

The Groom's Party

Jerod Wagner - Best Man

Jerod Wagner - Best Man

Jerod is my hilarious middle brother that's constantly cracking me up with his priceless one line comments, if anyone's met Jerod before you know what I'm talking about. He's by far the hardest working person I know and if you need help fixing something he knows how to get it done. Jerod is very athletic and enjoys playing softball, golf, bowling and curling. I'm very proud to have him by my side in our wedding.

Steve Wagner - Best Man

Steve Wagner - Best Man

Steve is the youngest brother of the family. From the moment Steve could walk he always wanted to do what his older brothers were doing, and he wanted to do it better. Steve is very determined and quit is not in his vocabulary. When my brothers and I were in grade school we'd play street hockey almost every day after class, no matter who was playing or how much bigger they were than Steve he wanted in on the action. I feel bad because we always made him play goalie, but I think it worked out pretty well for him. Steve currently plays pro hockey for the Pittsburgh Penguins Organization. I am also very proud that Steve will be one of my best men in our wedding.

Cory Rehnstrand - Groomsman

Cory Rehnstrand - Groomsman

Cory and I met in a high school word processing class. He had a really ugly winter hat on during class, I made a sarcastic comment, pretty sure he made one back and we've been good buddies ever since. Like my brother, Cory has the ability to make everyone in the room cry from laughing so hard. Over the years we've had so many good times whether it being parties out at his parents house, visiting each other in college, vacations and road trips or nights out in the Twin Cities. It's awesome to have a great friend like Cory.

Shawn Matteson - Groomsman

Shawn Matteson - Groomsman

I met Shawn very shortly after I met Cory. Those two had been friends for years and quickly we all became very good friends in high school. Shawn is quite the outdoors man and many times has taken me fishing, hunting, four wheeling and snowmobiling which always is a great time. We play a lot of different golf courses in the summer time, even though we both hit the long ball it's usually never straight. So other golfers beware, you're not safe...anywhere! Shawn's a great friend and a ton of fun.

Dan Miller - Usher

Dan Miller - Usher

Dan and I met in marching band during high school and quickly we found out that we had a lot in common. Dan is a very good wake boarder (which he taught me how to do, I'm horrible) and even better ski jumper. One of his favorite things to do growing up was to make random home movies with friends (Cory and Shawn). I was fortunate enough to co-star in few of these gems, and quickly I realized I wasn't cut out for acting. Dan and I also worked one of the most boring summer jobs as overnight food shelf stockers at the local Grand Rapids grocery store. We had some funny times doing it but I can't recommend the position to anyone. Dan has been a great friend and I'm very excited for him and his wife Susie as they just welcomed twins into their family.

Aaron Weiche - Usher

Aaron Weiche - Usher

Aaron and I first met in a job interview, I was interviewing for a position within his department. The interview was a piece of cake, and he offered me the job shortly after which I accepted. From then on we've become really good friends. I play softball and volleyball with Aaron and his wife Marci. Amy and I have really gotten to know Aaron and Marci's kids, siblings and parents as well and they are all so much fun. I can't thank Aaron enough for everything he's helped me with over the years, he's a great friend.
